Our mission is to serve the community by providing safety for children, or other pedestrians, en route to and from school. We do this by teaching children to cross properly, overseeing safe crossings, and observing and reporting any activity that may pose a danger at assigned locations before and after school.
The primary responsibility of the crossing guard is to help the children cross the streets safely, by using safe gaps in traffic, or when necessary, creating safe gaps. School crossing guards will not direct traffic. They receive training specific to their duties and after training, the crossing guard is assigned to a post.
The City of Irving Police Department has partnered with All City Management Services (ACMS) to manage our school crossing guard program. ACMS began the management of the crossing guard program on April 1, 2018.
ACMS is a California based Corporation, which was founded in 1985. They have been the largest provider of school crossing guard services for over 30 years. ACMS only provides school crossing guard services and currently employs over 5,000 school crossing guards nationwide.
