Statewide Hurricane Evacuation Exercise

Irving was among several cities participating in a statewide hurricane evacuation exercise. People posing as evacuees flew from the Gulf Coast and spent the night at Senter Park Recreation Center. The city teamed up with local nonprofit organizations to practice a coordinated disaster response. In addition to hurricanes, Irving’s Office of Emergency Management says the shelter also could be used for local disasters, such as a large fire or tornado.
